Applying specialist skills in new and different ways at NNE

Hanne Holmbom came to NNE two months ago with more than 25 years of experience under her belt and a desire to find new challenges and new ways of applying her skills. So has she? Find out below.

In my former job as a specialist, my tasks became more and more narrow into very specialized areas. But I actually enjoy being more of a generalist and love to work with a broader set of tasks and topics. So I felt I had a whole lot “in my backpack” that I wasn’t using in my daily work.

After more than 25 years in the pharma industry I wanted to keep working with GMP and compliance, but I also was looking for a new setting, new challenges and a new way of using my skills and knowledge. I believe NNE is the perfect place for that.

Variety in tasks – and teammates

In Compliance Consulting we’re involved in many small projects and with many different customers. And to me that’s just perfect - I really enjoy the variety in our tasks and customers and having to quickly adapt to new challenges. We have to understand each customer’s specific compliance/quality issue and their business, and then we have to develop solutions that will fit both the business need and ensure that the customer is in compliance with GMP.

Compliance Consulting is a very diverse department with many different educational backgrounds and experience. I’m sure that no matter what issue/problem may come our way, someone in the department will have an idea of how to approach it. I like being part of such a group and hope that I also can contribute with some of my experience and knowledge. And they are all genuinely nice and fun people to be around.

From onboarding journey to development journey

I’ve only been here for two months, but I definitely see that there are plenty of opportunities for both personal and professional growth for me at NNE. Of course, most of my time so far has been spent on on-boarding activities and getting to know my department and NNE. But I have already identified some areas where I can learn a lot – even with my more than 25 years of experience! And I’m excited to start that development journey.

Speaking of onboarding activities, I am very impressed with the whole on-boarding program, from receiving chocolates at home with a welcome message and being greeted on the first day with a bag with my new phone and IT equipment AND someone to help me set it up, to the two-days intensive onboarding event with so much valuable information. I felt welcome and valued from day one – actually, even before I started – that was really amazing.

Creating success together

After my first months here, I feel that I fit in. I really like the energy at NNE. All the colleagues I have met so far have been open and welcoming, very passionate about their own field of work and yet also very open to finding out how others (like me) can contribute. I feel that everybody shows an attitude of “we help each other” and “we would love to hear your inputs”.

Shortly after I joined NNE, I took on a task and performed it quite well. Afterwards I received really good feedback from both my direct leader and other people as well. It was very motivational for me to receive recognition like this for my contribution.

Overall, I think NNE has some really good values, staying focused on the customer and trying to exceed their expectations. I believe this is something worth striving for and feel that there is a great energy towards being successful together in this across our teams and projects.

Julie Kofoed Malmberg also works in NNE’s Compliance Consulting department, where she’s putting her skills as dairy engineer to good use. Yes, you read that right. While a pharma engineering company may not be the obvious choice of workplace for a dairy engineer, it’s a match made in heaven.
