In September 2025, NNE had the pleasure of hosting 34 talented girls, aged 13–19, from Science Girls Lyngby for an engaging three-hour visit.
The visit was part of our DEI strategy and held in partnership with the non-profit association Science Girls whose aim it is to foster girls' and young women’s interest in the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
During their visit, the girls stepped into the world of engineering, met our dedicated colleagues and gained first-hand insight into what it means to be part of NNE.
The visit thus provided a unique opportunity to connect with NNE’s inspiring female engineers, who introduced the girls to their own personal journeys into engineering, the challenges they have overcome and what excites them about their work and career. Through these conversations, our guests gained a deeper understanding of the diverse career possibilities and teamwork that engineering offers.
The voices behind the event
Reflecting on the event afterwards, Julie Midtgaard Madsen (see the photo below) says:
“I’m always happy to share my journey towards (and in) engineering, and I’m grateful to be able to share my passion for STEM with a room full of Science Girls, who are eager to learn more. It’s great that NNE provides a platform to do so! Here’s hoping that the event managed to inspire one or two to take a step in the direction of engineering!”

Offering hands-on experiences with VR technology, the event also allowed Science Girls to virtually explore simulations of engineering elements – providing a glimpse into advanced technology designed for testing and enhancing pharma manufacturing facilities.
The event was made possible through a collaboration involving our Mechanical department, XR department and HR. Thanks to everyone who engaged and participated in the event – both as facilitators and during the network session.
